Universal Merit
Mental Merit
Lore:
(Cost 1 Free trait at Character Creation. Cost 2 experience points after character creation. Staff approval required.)
This Merit replaces the Lore ability in mechanics and game use. There are no Lore abilities anymore. Players get their characters species type Lore for free.
When you take this merit you chose a focus each time. The Merit should then be written on your sheet as 'Lore: Chosen Focus'. A list of available focuses and what they cover will be at the bottom of this entry.
The Lore Merit allows abilities to be used in different ways when applied to the focus type. Some examples are Academics when trying to reference the History of a creature, medicine to know it's physiology and how to best hurt/help it, or even Politics to know what their society is like. There will always be a test for the use of Lores and the higher your ability you are attempting to use the more information you may get. Some questions may require abilities to be at certain levels to even get a test, so understand now that Lores are a point sink into abilities and merits to gain the most use out of them. All tests with this merit use Mental traits, and the appropriate ability you are trying to glean knowledge with, as a retest if needed.
List of current applicable Focus. More may or may not come later.
-Vampire
-Wraith
-Awakened (this is knowledge of supernaturals like hunters, Hedge Mages, and Psychics. Mostly relating to human phenomena)
-Umbra
-High Realms
-Low Realms
-Wyld
-Weaver
-Wyrm
-Deep/Outer Umbra
-Garou
-Gurahl
-Ananasi
-Mokole
-Ratkin
-Nuwisha
