"We are now back from our financially obligated break." he says with his calm raspy voice, a hint of sarcasm could be heard. "Before we get back into it, I was asked to read the following." he clears his throat away form the mic and one could easily imagine him pulling out some reading glasses.
"The Oceanside police department is currently seeking the aid of the community. Reports of machine gun fire and flashes of light were seen by drives on the I-5 just north of Oceanside on August the seventh of this year. When investigating the scene there were signs of a recent, and violent scuffle, at one of the rest stops. When asked, the military said they have no involvement and do not perform exercises that close to civilian areas. At this point the police believe there is at least two dead and implore anyone with any information to come forward."
"That aside, let's see if we can put that to rest folks. I know some may first jump to the idea of criminals or degenerates shooting it out, but who cares if they were. Someone somewhere may be staying up late, wishing for their son or daughter to come home. Think of it that way, if it was you sitting on that porch or peering out through the blinds as each set of headlights comes by hoping it is your loved ones. In these events the not knowing is the worse part, the nights and days not being able to move on from this moment for fear you are leaving some one you love behind."
He pauses for a moment, "I was told never to look back by the first Radio Host I assisted as an intern. I was working very hard, training my mind to remember every detail, to not be sloppy. The end of the first week, as we are all getting ready to go home he stops me in the hall and tells me, 'You're new to this, and I see you're breaking your back to try and get my attention. Kid, don't live your life worrying about every mistake, just don't look back on it and move forward.' that stopped me in my tracks. I was milling that over in my head all weekend, and the reason why is cause I couldn't truly understand it, or why it seemed so powerful at the time. Now I can, and I say this, to all of you San Diego, always look back. You need to, you need to judge your actions and life choices by staring in the mirror of the years gone only to memory. We can only come to true acceptance of who we are, what we are doing by holding ourselves accountable for the past deeds we have committed. True strength comes from having the inner will to face down your own demons, your own life, and actually knowing that you are okay with what has transpired. I see so many today who break cause they thought they were okay, that they had it all figured out and knew what they were doing, but one day that all crumbles down on them and they are left in dread at the images that looms behind them, just waiting to show them what they have really been working towards. Don't let yourself be blinded by your success and gains, you never know what they can be hiding just below the surface."
