The building, from the outside, is enormous with floor after floor reaching to the sky like some sort of modern day Tower of Babel. It's sleek composite form made from glass, metals, and processed stones is a testament to mankind's ability to create marvels that dwarf the imagination. You stare up as you approach, your neck craning to catch a glimpse of what might be beyond the clouds as the DynTech building ascends beyond them. Your awkward shuffle, that has become almost a stall caused by wonder, is interrupted with a startling honk and shout from some driver you were holding up while standing in the crosswalk.
You scurry across to the front of the building, welcomed by a moving crowd that is coming, going, or just passing by the building and get shuffled with the masses closer to the building. The front wall is a large, almost invisible, wall of what appears to be glass. The doors slide with silence out of the way as the crowd approaches. Once past the first doors you take in the large modern designed entry way that spans up three floors. Small shops sit nestled into the walls, and an attendant directs you to the entry turn style with a smile. Each person that approaches, waves a badge at the turn style and is allowed entry with a woman's cheerful and inviting voice from the machine, "Thank you, and welcome to DynTech."
When it is your turn you step up with no badge to wave. After a few seconds the same woman's voice asks nicely, "Would you please produce your work I.D.?". You fidget around for a moment and as it is in the process of asking again an arm reaches out past you and swipes there, "Good day Mr. Lawson, I hope you have a wonderful day."
"Thank you, Susan, I hope you have a wonderful day as well." The man says as he gestures you through the turn style. As you step through you recognize Marcus Lawson, acting Council member for the Ananasi of the Sept of New Dawn's. He holds up a hand to stop you as you attempt to introduce yourself, "No need for that, I was informed of who you are ahead of time. Please, step this way I can set you up with day pass." he directs you to a window off to the side. On the other side appears to be some sort of security office and a young woman in a casual suite who smiles when you approach. Few words are exchanged and the young woman produces a lanyard with a blank I.D. attached to it, and again, you are swept off by Mr. Lawson to a private elevator that people seem to be ignoring.
After the doors shut Marcus clears his throat, "Mr. Vincetti wished to convey his deepest regrets for not being able to be here to show you around himself, but wants to assure you that your interest in our company is always welcome." He speaks so calm and clear, with the slightest hint of an accent you can not place, maybe English. You are shocked to see yourself suddenly ten stories up and rising, the elevator made no sound or indicator that it was even moving.
"All members of New Dawn are welcome to seek employment here at DynTech. The opportunities Hope has given us to work among the very people we watch over has allowed for progress in areas of personal life and financial stability that very few of our kind have ever had a chance to touch. It has brought the Fera of the city a deeper respect and understanding to our duties and moral responsibilities to Gaia and all her children. Now employment is not guaranteed, meeting the actual education and skill set to work here is required, and Mr. Vincetti wants people to understand that you are worth what you make yourself worth. A man can not expect to be compensated more than his actual value." He looks out over the city with you, almost to the low hanging cloud level. "The city is beautiful, is it not. Our ancestors have worked hard here and in the spirit world to make it what it is, and that is why Mr. Vincetti fought to bring the head of his families company to San Diego. We all agree that the city has benefited from arrival and investment."
The elevator comes to a stop just inside the clouds. The elevator doors open to a large circular room. All the walls are the same clear glass like substance as you have seen so far and in the center appears to be a large circular table, it's black surface polished to an almost perfect reflection. When you step out you here Susan's voice again, "Hello, and welcome. I am glad to see the invitation to join our staff has been extended to you." Mr. Lawson walks past you and sets his hand on the table. The rooms floor starts to shift and slide forming into chairs, a drink station, and clear images like a computer screen appear like phantasms over the table.
"This building alone employs well over twenty thousand people. A mix of Humans and Fera. We keep things secret with the aid of Susan." She speaks up again with that cheerful tone, "Always happy to assist you Mr. Lawson." He offers you a seat and a bottle of water. "With Susan's aid the building has a dampening affect that confuses humans of any supernatural conversations that happens. You and your friends could be talking about the Fomori that ransacked the local O'Tooley's the other day, and to the guys at the water cooler it sounds as if you are discussing the new episode of Game of Thrones. This effect will not extend to blatant uses of supernatural powers, such gifts, fetishes, shifting of forms, so you still need to mind the veil."
"I am sorry I can not be of more service to you." Susan says with a less then cheery tone.
"You are an amazing employee and a valued asset to the company Susan, do not worry yourself." Lawson says in a cold and calm tone as if to comfort her. "Now to the human world the company has multiple departments, each a head to said department that answers to myself, and I, to Mr. Vincetti. This building houses and has facilities for Electronics, Entertainment, Medical, Biotech, Technologies, and Aerospace. The other departments; Steel, Chemicals, Construction, Industries, Yards, Shipping, and Foods are represented in the city but found at satellite facilities. On the surface all of the branches of DynTech bring new innovations and eases to the world, but underneath is the surface that serves us and out needs. Now, this does not mean that if you work here you will always be working on advancements for the supernatural denizens of the world. Inf act, most of your time will be working on, and with, advancements and people from the mortal and mundane world."
A screen appears among all the ones that he had been bringing up to display a more visual idea of the company. A man in a white lab coat appears as if on camera. "Mr. Lawson, we could use your assistance. The exact location is being sent to your device." The screen vanishes. And Mr. Lawson begins to shut down the table. "I am sorry to have to cut our meeting short, but please, feel free to contact Human Resources directly if you are interested. Give them my name and I am sure all will work out fine."
He directs you to the elevator with him and takes you back down to the first floor. "Feel free to keep the I.D. if you wish, after exiting the building it will be little more then a souvenir of our time together. I hope you have a good day."
"As do I." Susan includes with her usual cheerful tone.
