Focused abilities require you to take a focused field of study when you purchase the first dot. Now you can take it multiple times, each time is a different field, and each field can go up to 5 levels like any other abilities. No Focused abilities are so narrow compared to other abilities you can't specialize in them, but they are cheaper at the top end to purchase compared to normal abilities. Below is a list of the current focused abilities.
Crafts Performance Science
The following Reply list will give you some ideas of fields of study for each separate ability as well as some more detailed info.

Crafts is the ability to make things from use of your hands, tools, a lab, and/or a work shop. It shows a sense of creativity, ingenuity, and decent motor skills. People who have dots in crafts very from all walks of life, some may do it for fun, others to make a living, while certain people care to express a thought or emotion. Whatever the reason, those with crafts help bring all manner of ideas and objects into the world.
Focuses in crafts are usually meant to define a style. Coupling with other skills like Computers, Science, and Expression helps to be able to create all manner of things. As a note, if your character is not the kind of person who creates things from the ground up, just keeps what he or she has working and in good condition, then you want Repair. Repair is the skill to use for keeping things working, fix up broken or aged items, or just 'Jury Rig' some thing together to get one moment of glory out of it.
Crafts on it's own shows better skill, attention to detail, and like every skill the higher you are in it the more you can do with it. It does not, however, convey a better emotion or catharsis. That would be the purview of the ability 'Expression', which you can take and couple with crafts to make truly inspiring art that reaches into people and evokes a sensation that will leave a lasting memory.
Example Crafts:
Fine Arts: -Painting -Illustration -Sculpting -Woodworking
Trade Skills: -Carpenter -Weaver -Goldsmith -Blacksmith -Leather Working
Engineering: -Mechanical Engineer -Weapons Engineer -Armor/Field Armorer
The list is varied and before you start spending lots of points into crafts it is best to sit down with the staff and present to us what you are trying to do so we can come up with a path for you to not waste any points on. Being a dedicated crafter is a heavy point sink into abilities that very little use else where, as a fair warning now.

Being able to play an instrument, dance, and/or sing is the sign of some one with points in the Performance ability. Like other focused abilities, Performance requires that you take a focused field of study each time you take a point it. These abilities range from one to five and are given an experience alleviation on the far end to make up for many varied fields people tend to pick up to cover most bases.
Now by its self Performance rating can show how skilled/practiced you are at a specific field, however, like Crafts it does not convey a full range of emotions or draw out any feeling from inside the listener or viewer. Expression is an ability the couples with Performance to help you illicit dazzling displays of dance or a flurry of beats that will not only draw people in, but get them to explore and unleash emotions from inside themselves.
Example Performance fields:
Instrumental: -Piano -Saxophone -Cowbell -Guitar
Vocal: -Singing -Poetry -Public Speaking
Physical: -Dance -Acting -Fire Twirling
There are many varied styles of performance, and before sinking lots of points into these varied fields it is best to sit down with the staff and let us know what you have in mind and what directions you wish to go in. This will let us inform you of which abilities work best so you do not take skills that sound right, but eventually lead a direction you did not intend.

Science is a focused ability that broadens a players range of actual real world knowledge. Most of the fields of study for science are tried and true, although still evolving as new information comes to light, rarely do they delve into the commonly known 'soft sciences'. Science abilities commonly couple with other abilities to give the player new avenues of using their abilities as well as access to concepts and ideas that would normally not apply, or fail to come to mind, to characters who are lacking such extensive knowledge.
Examples of fields of Science:
Physical: -Physics -Chemistry -Earth Science
Life Science: -Biology -Zoology -Botany
Formal Sciences: -Mathematics -Systems Theory -Theoretical Computer Science
As stated with other focused abilities, please be sure to sit down with staff first and discus with us the direction your character is going. This way we can best come up with a list of appropriate fields of focus that you are not wasting time and experience on.
