In the Sit-Down and M.E.T. books there is a list of different abilities introduced. Some of them, like fishing or style, are parts of Abilities anyone can have, because even a normal human could perform such tasks.
Rather than create a ton of new abilities the staff has decided to make the ones listed a part of the new Lore merit system. The mechanics are as follows.
Lore Corax:
Gossip:
(System) A Corax is able to use his Allies and Contacts to direct information, be it true or not. With a social challenge, retest either Subterfuge or Leadership (mattering on if it is true or not), a Corax can get a bit of information to a set target without it being interrupted. The difficulty is based on the intended target, how hard they are to reach, and the size of the information delivered. This information can also be delivered to a player, and can deliver a normal social challenge with the intent to evoke a response from the target. Powers can not be delivered through this means. Players attempting to intercept such methods must first have Lore Corax and know the method the Corax is using to get the information delivered. After such he must beat the Corax in a Social challenge, retest Investigation, where the Corax gets to add his Contacts or Allies score to his trait pool in the event of a tie.
Non-Corax with the Merit Lore: Corax know of this method, but not being a Corax this sort of attention to detail escapes them and there for can not perform such actions.
Lore Gurahl:
Biorhythms:
(System) A Gurahl can now use the Endurance ability to control almost every aspect of his body. With just the slightest amount of time, one turn, a Gurahl can begin the process of amazing feats of body control. By making a static physical challenge, retest Endurance, against a difficulty based on the action decided a Gurahl is able to master his body. Some functions include;
Slowing ones blood flow to stop bleeding, or slow the flow of poison/toxins.
Reduce breathing rate to extend how long you can go without air.
Increase or reduces ones body heat.
Even, in rare and signs of true mastery of skill, stop ones heart for a period of time.
The effects when this is used are up to the staff member, and a staff member is required to use this ability.
Non-Gurahl with the Merit Lore: Gurahl know of this skill, but do not have the means to master such feats beyond what is listed under the normal abilities of the Endurance ability.
Lore Mokole:
Mnesis Emulation:
(System) A Mokole with the Mnesis background has the ability to tap into memories of Ancestors in an attempt to learn of such abilities or skills that he does not have himself. A Mokole can now use Meditation to gain levels of an ability he does not have. By making the standard Meditation test as listed under the ability he can forgo the bonus of gaining willpower or Gnosis and can instead gain one level of an ability for each two points he has of the Meditation ability. These abilities are his for the night, and can be used in all manners the ability could, even refreshing at the end of a scene. A mokole can never gain more dots of an ability in this fashion than his rating in Mnesis. These abilities vanish at the end of the nigh, and what abilities are available is up to the staff member you throw the test with.
Non-Mokole with Lore: Mokole know of this ability, but for obvious reasons do not have the ability to perform such a skill.
Lore Bastet:
Swiping:
(System): Bastet are creatures who were given the task to find the secrets of the world. To stock pile such knowledge and keep it safe for future generations. However, there are some secrets even they do not let out beyond the lips, or whiskers mind you, of the werecats. Swiping is an ability.....
Non-Bastet with Lore: Bastet, have no fucking clue this exists. Only true Bastet do, and they are not telling.
